What is Doconda?

Doconda is a REST API for AI agents to convert, create and edit Word (DOCX), PowerPoint (PPTX), Excel (XLSX) and PDF documents. It converts files from one format to another without AI (Word to Markdown and back, PDF to Word, any file to PDF, with OCR for scans), generates editable Office files with real styles, and creates artifacts: web pages with their own database. It also includes a visual Word, Excel, PowerPoint and PDF editor for React, Angular, Vue or any web app (@doconda/editor) that opens, edits and saves the files in the browser, with no server: an alternative to ONLYOFFICE, Collabora and Univer.
How do I generate a Word, PowerPoint or Excel file from my AI agent?

With one call to the Doconda API (POST /v1/documents), with the TypeScript SDK or with its MCP server. You send a sentence or your Markdown text and get back the Word file with its PDF. It works with Claude, AI SDK, LangChain, CrewAI, Gemini, Mistral and n8n.
Which formats can I create and edit with the API?

Doconda creates and edits Word (DOCX), PowerPoint (PPTX), Excel (XLSX) and PDF, plus artifacts. It also reads any file to Markdown and takes the old .doc, .ppt and .xls formats.
Does it work with Vercel AI SDK, OpenAI, Bedrock or Vertex AI?

Yes. Doconda has a REST API, Python (pip install doconda) and TypeScript SDKs, and an MCP server, with guides for Vercel AI SDK, OpenAI, Claude, Amazon Bedrock, Vertex AI, Gemini, Mistral, LangChain, CrewAI and n8n.
How much does Doconda cost?

Depending on the quality you choose, creating a document costs €0.15 to €1.50 (Word, PDF, PowerPoint, Excel or artifact) and editing one €0.10 to €1, AI included and without VAT (added at checkout). If you bring your own text in Markdown, creating costs less: from €0.05. Converting a file to another format is free up to 1,000 a month; then €0.01 each. When you sign up you get €5 of credit and there is no subscription: you only pay for delivered documents.
Where are my documents processed?

They are stored in the European Union (Ireland), and the AI models that write and build your documents also run in the EU (Amazon Bedrock). Doconda does not train models on your documents, and deletes their content when the retention you choose ends (from 15 minutes to 90 days).
What is an artifact?

A web page your agent creates with one API call: it has a signed link and its own small database, for polls, lists or calculators. It costs the same as creating any document: €0.15 to €1.50, depending on quality.
Can my users edit the documents in my app?

Yes, with the Doconda editor plugin: a component for React, Angular, Vue or any web app that opens, edits and saves Word, PowerPoint, Excel and PDF in the browser, inside your product. It is purchased separately, with a monthly, yearly or one-time plan, and you can try it free for 7 days.
